Henry County Healthy Communities
About Us
We depend on a board of volunteer directors - leaders in our community - to guide us and keep us on mission.

-
1000s of trees have taken root around Henry County.
-
Miles of trails have been developed.
-
Kids have a place to play.
-
Neighborhoods and parks are cleaner and safer.
All thanks to the volunteers and supporters of Healthy Communities of Henry County.

Healthy Communities of Henry County started in 1993.
Their first big project in 1999 was to bring together over 2,000 local volunteers to build the F.U.N. playground at Baker Park.
A year later, they celebrated the millennium with their Trees for 2000 planting the appropriate 2,000 trees around the county.
In 2003, HCHC started their biggest challenge yet – building trails throughout Henry County spinning out from centrally located New Castle to the edges of the county like spokes on a bicycle wheel.
In recent years, Healthy Communities has embraced smaller, like minded organizations to help make them stronger – HC-RIPS, The New Castle Climate Action Team and The Friends of the Big Blue River.
Our first 'community' project...
