We Preserve Rivers

The Friends of the Big Blue River (FOTBBR) has spent 20 years hauling garbage out of our river.

Now that it is clean they celebrate with an annual 'Canoe the Blue' in June.

And we are ready to take another step – protecting and restoring the Blue River Corridor for biodiversity.

Henry County is largely an empty space for migrating birds and butterflies – with just a few “islands” of habitat at Summit Lake, Wilbur Wright Fish and Wildlife Area, Memorial Park and Westwood Park.

We want to make those islands more effective habitat – not only for our flying friends but also for minks and otters and turtles! We envision a corridor of green connecting our beautiful parks that can support more beautiful wildlife for Henry County.
