Grant Received!

Healthy Communities of Henry County and the Henry County Commissioners have received an Indiana Department of Transportation grant to begin work on the first phase of the Raintree Trails.

Raintree Trails Mission

To bring the community together to develop a system of trails improving the opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy healthy outdoor exercise and improving the environment by increasing people's awareness and appreciation of the natural beauty of Henry County and by encouraging people to use alternative transportation sources.

We will accomplish this mission by specific goals...

Raintree Trails Goals 

1. To bring the community together to plan and develop a system of multi-use trails connecting New Castle, the parks, natural areas and the smaller communities of Henry County.
   
2. To promote family oriented activities and events that raise awareness of the trails project as well as raising funds.
   
3. To locate the trails so people can access them from residential areas thus encouraging alternative transportation 
   
4. To locate the trails and use signage to enhance people’s awareness of the natural environment and history of Henry County – providing that Sense of Place. 
   
5. To enhance the environment, habitat, and beauty in the vicinity of the trails by planting native plants. 
   
6. To improve economic development by linking key sites in Henry County together, promote recreation and tourism in the county and make this a more attractive place to live, raise a family and locate a business. 
   
7. To improve the quality of life for Henry County residents through the trails network and the concomitant health and environmental benefits.
