Come to Lewisville and help us celebrate the opening of the first three miles of the National Road Heritage Trail in Henry County. Awards will be given to the first three places in each running division (divisions to be determined depending on distribution of entries) and all runners and walkers will receive a short-sleeved T-shirt. Entry fee is only $15 if you preregister, $20 day of event.
The course starts at the South Henry Regional Wastewater District in Lewisville, a block west and about 800 feet south of the traffic light. It follows the historic railroad bed west and then returns the same way. Walkers and non-competing runners can adjust the course to suit; turn around sooner if you don't feel up to a full 5k, later if you're feeling ambitious and want to experience more of the trail.
The running of the Treading for Trails 5k coincides with the grand opening ceremonies of the new trail. You will be among the first people to "officially" run or walk the trail, though feel free to come down and take a sneak peek or a practice run if you would like. See maps and directions below. print version
