Executive Order PROCLAMATION
To All To Whom These Presents May Come, Greeting:

WHEREAS, bicycling is one of the fastest growing family activities in the country; and

WHEREAS, bicycling is a safe, low-impact aerobic activity for Hoosiers of all ages; and

WHEREAS, bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as drivers of other vehicles; and

WHEREAS, commuting by bicycle benefits the health of all Hoosiers by lowering traffic congestion and air pollution; and 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to maintain and improve our roadways to accommodate all transportation system users; and

WHEREAS, Indiana's investment in providing bicycling opportunities helps ensure a better quality of life for Hoosier families; and

WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens of the State of Indiana support the efforts of the Indiana Bicycle Coalition to make Indiana a better place for bicycling;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FRANK O'BANNON, Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby proclaim May 11, through 17, 2003, as

INDIANA BICYCLE TO WORK WEEK

in the State of Indiana, and ask all citizens to consider bicycling to work and for other transportation system users to use extra caution when encountering bicyclists on the roadways.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Indiana at the Capitol in Indianapolis on this 25th day of February, 2003.
